Reindeer racing is a competition in which trained reindeer, driven by experienced and professional drivers, measure themselves against others.

The Panuma competition usually has two series: a general one for those yet uncredited  reindeer and the other for highly-experienced ones - the hot series.

Thus complete newcomers as well as experienced competitors show in competition at Panuma. The quickest one will be awarded a genuine gold ingot as a prize.

Reindeer racing competitions have already been arranged on the Lake Panuma for over 30 years.  The Panuma Reindeer Race happening is arranged in cooperation with the local village society (Panumajärvi ry) and the Local Cooperative of Reindeer Herdsmen of Kiiminki-Kollaja. Together with its many extra activities, the Panuma Reindeer Racing has become a cozy and well-awaited recreational outdoor event for the whole family.

Lots of people come to watch the Panuma Reindeer Racing every year - no wonder, it is really a winter event for the whole family! Children pay no entrance fee and many kinds of activities and pastime are offered to them: snow castle, slides, horse riding, reindeer sledge driving, Sleigh-go-round (Finnish Sleigh Merry-go-round, aka Hoijakka, watch video)... all of these free of charge for children!
